Things To Do

The historic city of York surrounded by medieval walls, the magnificent Minster and quaint shopping streets allows you to experience the wealth of rich history. With world famous museums including the York Castle Museum, Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum the city is a must visit for the family.

Closer to Foxhill Park is the splendid stately home of Castle Howard. This 18th Century house with extensive collections and breathtaking gardens, is the centre piece for a thriving rural estate. The 1,000 acres of Gardens are stunning whatever the time of year and contain delightful monuments and fountains.

Other local attractions include:

  • Malton, Helmsley and Pickering market towns
  • Castle Howard
  • Eden Camp
  • Dalby Forest
  • The North Yorkshire Moors National Park
  • Goathland - the Heartbeat village
  • Yorkshire Lavender
  • Local golf course and driving range

There is a good bus service on the A64 to York and Scarborough, the A64 being a 10 minute walk from Foxhill Park. There is also a village bus which actually stops at the site, twice per day to either York or Malton.

Our Guests Thoughts…

"This site is really useful for York trips, and has all of the major supermarkets within easy reach (at the Monks Cross shopping park).

If you stay here – and you'd be mad not to – you must have dinner at the Blacksmith's Arms pub in Flaxton. We went there for dinner, then found that we had to return the next night too!

I can honestly find no criticisms of this site. It was quiet, peaceful, and very well located for all of York's attractions."
